How can we take the success of others in different fields, and use it a a model of success to make money online? I am sure that at one point or another all of us have read about individuals in the world who have worked extremely hard for brief moments of success. For instance, the song "Whoomp! There It Is" was such a huge success back in 1993 that I heard the stupid lyrics from that stupid song come out of my dad's mouth. Fortunately, they were a one hit wonder.

How can we take the success of others in different fields, and use it a a model of success to make money online? I am sure that at one point or another all of us have read about individuals in the world who have worked extremely hard for brief moments of success. For instance, the song "Whoomp! Nonetheless, when we think of success, when generally do not think of people who have had their moment in the sun, and watched the sun abruptly set upon them. These are not the personality traits which anyone who wants to make money online should follow. Conversely, it is important to look at the people who have been able to maintain success over a period of time. One person who has been able to do this is the rapper 50 Cent. I am sure most people do not look at Mr. Cent (joking) as someone whose traits should be emulated, but just hear me out. What this guy has done behind the scenes is nothing short of amazing. In particular, I am talking about his ten percent investment in a company called Glacier. Glacier was the company who used to own Vitamin Water. However, the company was sold to a popular soft drink manufacturer for $4 billion. Therefore, 50 Cent a.k.a. Curtis Jackson's 10% investment in Glacier meant that he made $400 million from the sale. The key point is that successful people recognize trends and act upon them. This leads to more success, as you can see. It does not matter if the individual is involved in music, computers, investment, entrepreneurship, or the dramatic arts. Such an ability transcends a myriad of aspects of life.

So what is it about these people that makes it possible for them to become successful, and then improve upon their success? Well, what I have been able to discover, is that as different as these people are in their professions, they share some commonalities which we will cover below.

1. Above all, successful people are extremely hard workers. From the outside looking in, we see that Sir Richard Branson owns the Virgin brand, in addition to an island and a spaceship. However, if we focus on this, we are only getting part of the story. Individuals who achieve such success start their days before the sun comes up, do not waste time and energy whining, and expect those with whom they associate to act in a similar manner. They expect a lot out of themselves. They will be the first to realize that working hard pays dividends, and this is what drives them to continually work hard. For those of you who want to make money online, you have to recognize this fact, otherwise you will give up when times become challenging.

2. Successful people have a need for answers and a hunger for knowledge. They realize that there is always something which they can learn and improve upon. As a result, such people are constantly asking questions, studying, as well as reading. Something which I found particularly compelling is the fact that while most successful people have done well scholastically, it is ability to apply what they have learned which separates them from the masses. The truth is that you can do well in school by memorizing facts and forgetting them after taking an exam. What successful people do is to learn information, and build upon their lives with this information. You must learn how to do this if you want to consistently make money online.

3. Something which is important to successful people are their relationships. They make sure that they know other people, and in turn, that other people know of them. They are masters of networking, and associate with individuals from all sorts of circumstances, learning from such associations. These individuals are very astute listeners, and can see an argument from both sides of the issue. They did not seek to be in the spotlight. To the contrary, they are often quite shy. Regardless, the relationships which they have with they people with whom they do associate are regarded highly.

4. Successful individuals are constantly trying to make themselves better, and never quit. Contrary to the one hit wonder who often quickly adopts an exaggerated self-opinion, the most successful individuals are constantly trying to improve upon their interpersonal, management, and leadership skills, in addition to any other detail which can be improved upon. When a venture which they have engaged in does not go as planned, they see this as an opportunity to learn from their mistakes, and become better. Successful individuals do not accept weaknesses. Rather, they do what they can to make their weaknesses their strengths.

5. They are extraordinarily creative. They go around questioning why something cannot be done. They see possibilities, combinations, new opportunities and challenges in places that others see complications and limitations. They keep a notebook next to their bed at night for the times at which they are awoken by a novel idea. They ask for advice, try things out, consult with both experts and amateurs, and are always looking for a better, faster, cheaper solution. Successful people make new opportunities. If you can recognize a need and fill this need with a product or service, you will make money online beyond your expectations.

6. Successful individuals are very self-sufficient, and are extremely responsible for their actions. They do not waste time pointing the finger at others, and would rather look to fix a problem, rather than complain about it. It is not uncommon for them to allow themselves to be blamed for something which was not necessarily their fault in the interest of focusing on a solution.

7. Successful individuals maintain their calm, and keep things in context. This is even true in the most chaotic of circumstances. Rarely do these individuals become alarmed, or make rash decisions. Rather, they maintain calm, ask the correct questions, and make level headed decisions, even in critical situations.

8. Successful people live for today. It is clear to them that they cannot control the past or the future, only the present. Therefore, the present receives their attention. Successful people have the knack to fully comprehend conversations which they have with others, and pay close attention to the details of such conversations. They appreciate some of the finer things in life, such as a good wine, their favorite restaurant, music, and time with the family. Although never appearing to be rushed, they tend to get a lot done due to impeccable time management skills.

9. Those who are extremely successful are able to notice market trends, pay attention to shifts, and catch nuances which are not readily apparent to others. Just think about it. For most, it is expected that an NHL player would use an expensive composite hockey stick. Although some of these sticks run well in excess of $200 per stick, no one gets excited about this. However, when you go to your 16 year old son or daughter's hockey game, and see a teammate using the same $200 stick, this grabs your attention. As a result, the maker of such a stick is starting a trend which will eventually expand their market far beyond the National Hockey League.

10. The most successful people in the world are able to read and react quickly. When something which they have invested in is not working out, they get rid of it. When they see recognize an opportunity, they take advantage of it. If they notice that they are drifting away from an important contact, they make sure that they mend that gap by reaching out to the contact. When technology changes the face of the market, or a competitor takes steps to cut into their market share, successful individuals are the first to recognize this, and counteract.

The traits which are possessed by the most successful give them huge advantages across the board. The best thing is that they were not born with these traits. Rather, they had to learn them. This is great news for those of you who want to make money online, as the possession of such traits are critical to your success.
