As a student in high school or college, finding a balance between studies and job is an issue almost every student faces these days. There are many aspects one should keep in mind before taking up a job as a student so as to make sure the performance delivered in both fields are satisfactory and one doesn't have to go out on a limb to cope up with both of them.

The first thing to keep in mind before taking up a job is the fact that whether one actually likes the work one is opting to take or is it just because of economic pressure or because there are no other better jobs available. Taking up a job which a person does not enjoy will after some time start to feel as a burden and as a result their performance will suffer. Furthermore taking up a job which falls in one's area of interest can actually help a student in bringing out his or her qualities. For example if a student enjoys writing then it will be of immense advantage for him or her if they get a job as a freelance writer rather than a receptionist of a nanny. Taking up a job which brings out one's qualities and polishes them are the most suitable jobs for a student.

Other than taking care of one's area of interest and expertise while taking up a job one should also make sure that the job doesn't interfere with ones studies and is not very stressful because as a student studies come first in one's priority list. The timings of the job and the job environment also matter a lot .Apart from having an encouraging and amiable work atmosphere one should also take care that a certain level of understanding should also be there in between the employers and the employee as far as taking holidays is concerned especially during exams.

Earning while learning is a very common phenomenon these days and working as a student helps the student a lot in growing up as an individual , realizing the importance of money , managing it and getting to know which area they are good at and what would they like to do in future. Having a job also brings a certain level of confidence, maturity and independence in a student which is very crucial as it helps in molding them into a responsible and balanced adult and individual.

Although a right job and working condition can actually prove to be very beneficial for a student, a wrong job can be disastrous as not only will it shake a persons confidence and deter one's studies, it will also make a person feel that they are not capable enough and lower their confidence level. So choosing a job intelligently is very important. As a student and an adolescent, a job is more of a learning experience than a way to make money. Finally it is a tool in one's hand which if used judiciously can help a person grow as an individual as on the job front one has to be practical, diplomatic and on the same time honest, dedicated and humble.
